DePauw Makes it Seven Straight with NCAC Sweep of Hiram

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

Greencastle, Ind. - DePauw extended its win streak to seven and remained perfect in North Coast Athletic Conference play following a pair of 4-1 win over visiting Hiram. The Tigers improved to 15-9 overall and 6-0 in NCAC play, while the Terriers dropped to 5-11 overall and 0-2 in the NCAC.

DePauw took a 1-0 lead in the first as Sammi Bell walked and stole second. An errant throw on the steal attempt allowed Bell to advance to third and she scored on Taylor Golden's sacrifice fly.

Megan Landahl hit a two-out double to right in the second and moved to third on Grace Hendrickson's base hit. Morgan Pigusch followed with a two-run double and she crossed home on Bell's single.

Hiram's lone run came in the third when Meghan Garland singled. Dana Perotta entered as a pinch-runner and scored on Jessica Wahl's double.

Jennifer Ridge had two of DePauw's seven hits, while six different Terriers collected one hit apiece.

Kahla Nolan improved to 11-6 with the win and struck out six, while Garland dropped to 3-7.

Just as in game one, DePauw did all of its offensive damage in the first two innings. Bell led off the first by being hit by a pitch and moved to third on Golden's double. Lauren Krumwiede's bunt single scored Bell before Linsey Button's ground out plated Golden to make it 2-0.

Beth Chelmowski doubled with one out in the second and moved to third on Julia Waggoner's bunt single. Waggoner stole second before Bell lifted a fly ball to right that was dropped after the right fielder and center fielder ran into one another. Golden then delivered a single through the right side, scoring Waggoner and making it 4-0.

Hiram's run came in the third as Jessica Wahl doubled to left and went to third on Sarah Loyer's single up the middle. Jess Bolanz knocked in Wahl with a single to left.

Golden and Krumwiede each had two of DePauw's seven hits, while Wahl and Loyer each had two of the Terriers's seven.

Nolan improved to 12-6, while Taylor Miller dropped to 1-3.

DePauw hosts Anderson, tomorrow, in a 1 p.m. doubleheader.
