Box Score 2 Fishers, Ind. - DePauw took early leads in both games of its doubleheader against Trine at Fishers High School, but the Thunder prevailed in both by scores of 6-1 and 14-9. DePauw is 7-7 on the season, while the 13th-ranked Thunder are 12-1.
Sammi Bell's second-inning solo homer to center gave DePauw a 1-0 lead in the opener. Trine left eight runners on base in the first three innings before Kaitlyn Clark delivered a three-run homer to left center in the fourth.
In the fifth the Thunder loaded the bases for the fourth time before Rachel Harris drew a walk to score Haleigh Daniels. Carly Searles then scored on a wild pitch to make it 5-1. Jamie Lydick scored in the sixth when Searles grounded out to the pitcher.
DePauw totaled four hits with Bell and Megan Landahl each totaling two. Searles had three of Trine's 11 hits with Clark and Daniels finishing with two each.
Kahla Nolan dropped to 5-4, while Bree Fuller improved to 6-1.
In the nightcap, DePauw scored six in the top of the first as Gabby Smart drove in Jennifer Ridge with a single before Megan Landahl's bases loaded walk brought home Taylor Golden. Ann Sarkisian walked to score Linsey Button and Hailey Freres singled up the middle to bring home Lauren Krumwiede. Bell's single to left made it 6-0 as the Tigers sent 12 batters to the plate.
The Thunder, however, scored two in the first, three in the second and six in the third to take an 11-6 lead. Smart's two-run single in the fourth closed the gap to 11-8 before Bell homered to right center in the fifth.
Trine added three more in the fifth to end the scoring.
DePauw totaled 11 hits paced by Bell's four and Smart's two. Bell went six-for-seven in the two games. Trine finished with 12 hits led by Searles and Jamie Schnarr with three each and Leah Hall with two.
Nolan dropped to 5-5, while Bre Cooper improved to 2-0 after pitching 4 2/3 innings of relief.
