Indianapolis, Ind. - DePauw's 200-yard freestyle relay broke the school record and earned honorable mention all-America in this evening's finals and Caroline Bridges (So., Mequon, Wis./University School Milwaukee) turned in a 16th-place showing in the 200 free to highlight the Tigers' second day of competition at the NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships.
Bridges, Emily Weber (Jr., Cincinnati, Ohio/Princeton), Kirsten Olson (Albuquerque, N.M./Wayzata) and Erin Horne (So., Arlington Heights, Ill./John Hersey) were 11th in the prelims in 1:35.98 and finished 12th in the finals in 1:35.79 which broke the school record by .07 seconds.
Bridges was 11th in the morning session in the 200 free in 1:51.52 before touching in 1:53.10 in the finals.
Also, in the morning prelims, Angela Newlon (O'Fallon, Ill./O'Fallon Township) was 17th in the 400 individual medley in 4:30.12, while Weber was 22nd in the 200 free in 1:52.50.
With 20 total points, DePauw is tied for 20th in the team standings at the halfway point of the Championships. Friday's prelim competition starts at 10 a.m.
