Gambier, Ohio - The 24th-ranked Tigers totaled 78 points on the opening night of the Total Performance Invitational and are in fifth among seven schools.
DePauw's 800-yard freestyle relay of Angela Newlon, Emily Weber, Kirsten Olson and Caroline Bridges finished eighth in an NCAA "B" qualifying time of 7:35.36. Maggie Lomasney, Annie Graves, Jamie Fritsch and Erin Horne were 16th in 7:59.69. Newlon's leadoff swim of 1:51.89 was good for a "B" cut in the 200 free.
Weber was 10th in the 1,650 free in an NCAA "B" qualifying time of 17:20.07, while Lomasney was 27th in 18:18.95.
Day two of the invitational starts at 9:30 a.m. tomorrow morning.
