Tigers Fall in OT to Denison

Greencastle, Ind.- The DePauw women's soccer team needed a win to keep their North Coast Athletic Conference postseason hopes alive. Tied 1-1 after regulation, the visiting Big Red from Denison netted a goal four minutes into overtime to defeat the Tigers by a score of 2-1.

With the loss, DePauw ended their season with a 5-8-2 overall record and a 3-3-2 mark in NCAC play, while Denison improved to 13-5 on the year and 6-2- in the NCAC.

Chloe Jacob put the Tigers in front early in the opening half when she headed in a crossing pass from Jennifer Dimos in the 10th minute. DePauw was in control for the majority of the half, taking a 1-0 lead into halftime.

In the second half, both teams had scoring opportunities, but it was Denison who finally pushed across a goal when Anne Denz scored on an unassisted shot in the 84th minute.

Tied at the end of regulation, the teams headed into overtime. With just over five minutes remaining in the first overtime Meg Wozniak collected a pass from Andrea Witte and shot a ball that just squeaked by DePauw goalie, Sarah Cho, for the game winner.

The Tigers held an 11-9 shot advantage and had eight corner kicks to Denison's four. Big Red goalie, Jenny Herold made seven saves in the win, while Cho grabbed two saves in defeat.

DePauw closed out their 2014 season finishing fifth in NCAC, just missing out on the postseason tournament. Elizabeth Seewer led the team with five goals, while Jacob paced the Tigers with four assists.
