Box Score Greencastle, Ind.- The 17th-ranked DePauw field hockey team won their sixth straight contest, defeating Wittenberg by a score of 6-2, Saturday night at Reavis Stadium.
DePauw improved to 10-1 on the year and 6-1 in North Coast Athletic Conference play, while Wittenberg dropped to 5-6 overall and 4-3 in the NCAC.
The dueling Tigers were locked in a tight battle over the opening 15 minutes, before DePauw's Kate Jovanovic broke the scoreless battle. Jovanovic rattled the cage on an assist from Maggie Campbell in the 16th minute. Paige Henry fired in a goal in the 24th minute on an assist from Addie Ball and scored an unassisted goal in the 32nd minute to put DePauw up 3-0.
Leading 3-0 at halftime, the host Tigers continued the offensive pressure as Campbell scored an unassisted goal in the 37th minute. She tallied her second goal of the contest just four minutes later on an assist from Paige Berliner.
Wittenberg's Megan Loofbourrow broke their scoreless drought, finding the back of the cage in the 44th minute.
Jovanovic notched her second goal on an assist from Natalie Abbott in the 58th minute, putting DePauw up 6-1.
Maddie Goelz rounded out the scoring in the contest, tallying an unassisted goal in the 62nd minute to make the score 6-2.
DePauw outshot Wittenberg 20-8 and held a 12-6 advantage on penalty corners. Maggie Steele and Sarah Guendert combined for the victory, combining for two saves. Sarah Brownell and Laura Jansing combined for seven saves in a losing effort.
DePauw is back in action Saturday, October 11, when they host Kenyon for a pivotal NCAC matchup.
