Centre Nets Late Goal to Defeat Tigers

Danville, Ky.- A late goal by Centre College proved to be the difference as they defeated the DePauw men's soccer team by a final score of 2-1, Wednesday night in Danville, Ky.

With the loss, the Tigers dropped to 9-6 on the year, while the Colonels improved to 6-2-5 overall 

DePauw jumped out to an early lead as Julian Gonzalez scored on a crossing pass from Andy Morrison in the 7th minute. The Tigers appeared to be taking a 1-0 lead into the locker room, but Centre earned a late corner kick and Noah Wesley-Chevalier was able to convert a header on a pass from Henry Lynch.

In the second half, Centre attempted 15 shots to the Tigers' lone shot. They were rewarded for their pressure in the 71st minute when the Colonels earned a corner kick and Jacob Trumbull was able to score the deciding goal on an assist from Lynch.

Centre held a 21-5 advantage on shots and an 8-4 mark on corner kicks. Chris Yount made five saves in a losing effort, while Ohan Missirian-Dill grabbed two saves in the victory.

The Tigers return to Reavis Stadium Saturday, October 25, when they host Allegheny in a North Coast Athletic Conference showdown starting at 2:30 p.m.
