Box Score Oberlin, Ohio- The 17th-ranked DePauw field hockey team made quick work of Oberlin, defeating the Yeowomen by a final score of 9-1, Saturday afternoon in Oberlin, Ohio.
With the win, the Tigers improved to 12-2 overall and 8-2 in the North Coast Athletic Conference, while Oberlin dropped to 1-10 on the year and 1-9 in NCAC play.
The Tigers exploded offensively in the first half, scoring five goals in the opening 14 minutes. Freshman Paige Berliner opened the scoring on an assist from Maggie Campbell just 1:15 into the contest. Paige Henry, Grace Goodbarn, Reilly Bruce, and Campbell all tallied goals over the next 13 minutes. Natalie Abbott tacked on DePauw's sixth goal of the half in the 21st minute.
Campbell scored her second goal of the contest four minutes into the second half. Henry tallied her second goal in the 43rd minute to put the Tigers up 8-0.
Oberlin was able to notch a goal in the 52nd minute when Rachel Zuckerman scored on an assist from Ariana Enzerink.
DePauw's Laynie Thomas rounded out the scoring as she tacked on an unassisted goal in the 56th minute. Sarah Guendert made three saves in the win, while Maggie Gossiaux made 26 saves in a losing effort.
The Tigers are back in action tomorrow, October 19, when they travel to Wooster for a conference battle starting at noon.
