Greencastle, Ind. - A pair of Emma Ueland first-half goals proved to be the difference in DePauw's 2-1 victory over Hiram College Saturday afternoon at Boswell Field.
With the win, the Tigers improved to 4-4 overall and 1-0 in the North Coast Athletic Conference, while the Terriers dropped to 5-2 and 0-1 in the NCAC.
Ueland broke away from the pack and drove home a goal in the 15th minute. Just 10 minutes later she struck again, scoring in a similar fashion in the 26th minute. Chloe Jacob provided the assist on both goals.
In the second-half the Terriers got a late goal when Abbey Rowe scored on a pass from Anna Cicchinelli in the 86th minute. However, the Tigers were able to withstand Hiram's late charge and escape with the win.
The Tigers outshot Hiram 13-8 and held a 4-1 edge on corner kicks. DePauw has now won four straight contests.
DePauw returns to action Saturday, September 28, when they travel to Kenyon. This NCAC contest is scheduled for a 1 pm start.
