Greencastle, Ind.- Two first-half goals from Stephanie Martin propelled the Tigers to their first victory of the season in Thursday night's game against Earlham College. With the 3-2 win DePauw moves to 1-4, while the Quakers drop to 0-2-1.
The Tigers were off to a quick start when Martin knocked in a pass from Elizabeth Seewer in the 2nd minute. Emma Ueland added to the Tiger's lead scoring on a pass from Megann Lear. Martin wrapped up the first-half scoring with her second goal of the half on a pass from Lear. Martin's goal proved to be the game-winner.
Down 3-0 at the half the Quakers came out strong in the second-half scoring in the 50th minute when Kelly Mayhew drove in a pass from Gia Casaburo. Christine Page added another goal in the 54th minute knocking in a pass from Mayhew.
Despite a quick flurry of Quaker goals early in the second-half the Tigers were able to hold on to the 3-2 victory.
DePauw outshot Earlham 19-8 and held a 10-3 edge on corner kicks.
The Tigers return to action Saturday, September 14, when they take on Marian (Ind.). Kickoff is slated for 7 pm in Indianapolis.
