Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

Gambier, Ohio - Having already wrapped up its first North Coast Athletic Conference championship, DePauw concluded conference play with a doubleheader split at Kenyon. The Tigers dropped the opener by a 3-2 score in nine innings before taking a 7-1 win in the nightcap.

DePauw moved to 19-15 overall and finished 13-3 in the NCAC, while the Ladies are 22-13 overall and in a four-way tie for second in NCAC play at 10-6. The Tigers' three-game lead in the final standings marked just the second time in NCAC history it occurred and the first since 2001.

In game one, the Tigers took a 1-0 lead in the first as Samantha Szyska led off by being hit by a pitch and moved to third on consecutive sacrifice bunts by Amy Hallett and Haleigh Chasteen. Linsey Button followed with a double to left center that plated Szyska.

DePauw added one more in the sixth as Chasteen singled with one out and Megan Landahl entered as a pinch-runner. Landal stole second, but was out at third when Button reached second on a fielder's choice. Kate Hendrickson drove in Button with a single to make it 2-0.

The Ladies picked up their first hit of the game in the bottom of the sixth and also knotted the contest, 2-2. Jamie Samuel doubled with one out and moved to third on Chelsea Delaney's single to left. Lindsey Susolik walked to load the bases before Toni Miller knocked in Samuel with a two-out single to left. Liz Paterra then drew a bases loaded walk to score Delaney and tie the game. A ground out ended the inning.

The Ladies loaded the bases with two outs in the seventh, but Kahla Nolan struck out Emily Prehoda to end the frame.

Kenyon scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the ninth as Samuel reached by being hit by a pitch and moved to second on Susolik's walk. Miller singled to right with two outs and Samuel crossed the plate and ended the game.

Four different Tigers collected one hit apiece, while Miller led Kenyon with two of its five hits.

Nolan dropped to 7-5 in relief of Chasteen and Emily Bichler. The three DePauw pitchers struck out nine in the game, but combined to walk 11 hitters. Maddy Stark improved to 17-4 with the complete game win that included eight strikeouts.

The Tigers got off to a fast start in game two as Sammi Bell led off with a walk, moved to second on Hallett's sacrifice bunt and scored on Chasteen's double. Lauren Krumweide drove in Chasteen with a double to left.

DePauw expanded the lead to 4-0 in the second as Landahl doubled and moved to third on Gwen Anderson's sacrifice bunt. Bell plated Landahl with a single and, after stealing second, scored on Hallett's single up the middle.

Hallett added to the lead with a solo homer to left center in the fifth before Alison Towery reached on an error in the same inning and scored on Jennifer Ridge's triple to right center.

The Tigers' final run came in the sixth when Hailey Freres led off with a pinch-hit walk and moved to second on Hendrickson's base hit. Anderson's sacrifice bunt moved the runners to second and third and pinch-hitter Amanda Chastang singled scoring Freres.

Prehoda provided the Ladies' only run in the bottom of the seventh with a solo homer to left.

DePauw totaled 10 hits and were led by two from Hallett. Three different Kenyon players had one hit each.

Bichler improved to 7-5 with four innings in relief of Nolan. Stark dropped to 17-5 with the loss.
