Gambier, Ohio - DePauw opened competition at Kenyon's Total Performance Invitational tonight and notched its first NCAA "B" cut of the meet.
The Tigers' 800-yard freestyle relay of Angela Newlon, Emily Weber, Kirsten Olson and Caroline Bridges finished sixth in 7:38.33 which was four seconds under the national provisional qualifying time. DePauw's B relay of Jamie Fritsch, Jennifer Norehad, Dana Zerbini and Erin Horne were 17th in 7:56.82.
Weber paced the Tigers' efforts in the 1,650 free by finishing 17th in 17:43.52. Maggie Lomasney was 27th in 18:25.31.
With 66 points, the Tigers are in sixth place trailing Penn, Kenyon, Davidson, Johns Hopkins and Grove City. Competition resumes Friday morning.
