#12 DePauw Softball Splits NCAC Doubleheader at Wooster

Wooster, Ohio - DePauw totaled just two hits in losing the first game of its North Coast Athletic Conference doubleheader, 3-1, but came back for a 6-0 win in the nightcap. The 12th-ranked Tigers are now 19-7 overall and 3-3 in the NCAC, while Wooster is 17-9 overall and 4-4 in conference play. 

In the opening game, Wooster took a 1-0 lead in the first as Demi Hart singled with two outs and moved to third when Jenn Horton reached on an error. Lauren Swinehart followed with a double which scored Hart.

The Tigers knotted the score in the top of the second as Holly Paris led off with a single and moved to second on a ground out. Paris advanced to third on an error and scored on a wild pitch.

The Fighting Scots scored the game-winning runs in the sixth when Swinehart singled and Carly Schoenstein followed with a two-run homer.

Paris and Cymone Allen had both of DePauw's hits, while Paige Goldberg, Hart, and Swinehart each had two of Wooster's seven hits.

Gina Pirolozzi improved to 10-3 with the win, while Emily Dieckmann dropped to 9-3.

In the nightcap, DePauw jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first as Jamie Story walked, moved to second on Jen Kosinski's single and scored on Paris' double.

Kosinski reached on an error in the third and scored on another Paris double. Paris moved to third on a wild pitch and scored on a passed ball to give DePauw a 3-0 lead.

In the fifth, Alison Towery led off with a double and later scored on Rachel MacBeth's double. MacBeth crossed home on Kosinski's single. DePauw's final run came in the seventh when Amy Hallett doubled and scored when Lauren Krumwiede reached on an error.

DePauw totaled nine hits as MacBeth, Kosinski and Paris each had two. Three different Fighting Scots collected one hit apiece.

Emily Bichler improved to 5-3 and pitched a two-hitter for her third shutout of the season. Horton suffered the loss and dropped to 7-6 with the loss.

DePauw wraps up its NCAC weekend with a 1 p.m. doubleheader at Denison tomorrow.
