DePauw Splits Final Games in Florida; Tigers Head Home with 14-2 Record

Clermont, Fla. - Seventh-ranked DePauw wrapped up its Florida trip with a split of games against MIT and #12 Wisconsin-Whitewater. The Tigers are not 14-2 on the season.

In the win over MIT, Emily Bichler and Emily Dieckmann combined to toss a one-hitter in the five-inning win.

The Tigers scored three unearned runs in the first and two more in the third. Holly Paris' fourth-inning single scored Rachel MacBeth and Amy Hallet's double plated Paris. DePauw wrapped up the game in the fifth as Jamie Story doubled and scored on MacBeth's single.

MacBeth had three of DePauw's eight hits and Paris added two in the victory. Jessica Iacobuccio had MIT's lone hit, a third-inning single.

Bichler improved to 3-1 with the win, while Iacobuccio dropped to 1-4.

DePauw fell behind Wisconsin-Whitewater in the first as Amanda Mertes reached on a bunt single and scored on Emily Epifanio's double.

The Tigers took the lead in the second when Hallett led off with a homer before Haley Buchanan reached on an error and pinch-runner Samantha Szyska scored when Story reached on a fielder's choice.

Jen Kosinski doubled in the third and later scored on Hallett's sacrifice fly to give DePauw a 3-1 lead, but the Warhawks regained the lead in the bottom of the third. Mimi Ramirez singled and Samie Seamon followed with a homer to left center. Epifanio singled and pinch-runner Emily Muche scored on an error after Morgan Krisch singled.

The Warhawks added a run in the fourth when Kiersten Tinkoff doubled and came home on Ramirez's double. DePauw's final run came in the top of the fifth as Dieckmann singled with two outs and scored on Story's single.

Eight different DePauw players had one hit apiece. Whitewater totaled 11 hits led by two each from Ramirez, Epifanio and Krisch.

Kahla Nolan dropped to 5-1 with the loss, while Bekka Houda improved to 4-1.

DePauw opens North Coast Athletic Conference play on Saturday, March 31, when it hosts Hiram in a 1 p.m. doubleheader.
