DePauw Women Knock Off Top-Seed Wittenberg

Springfield, Ohio - Fourth-seeded DePauw advanced to the North Coast Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Tournament championship game following a 2-1 win over top-seed Wittenberg.

The Tigers improved to 6-10-1 with the win and will travel to Denison on Saturday for the 2 p.m.NCAC title contest, while Wittenberg dropped to 11-4-3.

After a scoreless first half, DePauw took a 1-0 lead on Chloe Jacobs' goal at 60:27. Wittenberg's Kayla Murphy knotted the contest at 1-1 at 80:07, but just 24 seconds later Dana Sprague knocked in a penalty kick and the eventual game winner.

Wittenberg held a 10-7 advantage in shots, but DePauw had five shots on goal to the hosts' three. Each team had five corners.

Emma Cooper totaled two saves for DePauw in goal, while Melissa Gartner didn't face a shot on goal in the first half and Cassie Lythjohan turned away three shots in the second half.
