September 17, 2011, Meadville, Pa. —  DePauw jumped out to a 10-0 lead in the opening 12 minutes of its game at Allegheny, but the Gators scored 17 straight to take a 17-10 non-conference win over the Tigers. DePauw dropped to 1-1, while Allegheny improved to 2-1.

On their second drive, the Tigers needed just seven plays to reach the scoreboard as Ethan Schweir teamed with Brody Schoen for a 59-yard scoring pass. Eric Malm's extra-point with 7:30 left in the first gave the Tigers a 7-0 lead.

DePauw's defense held the Gators without a first down for the second straight series and the Tigers took over on the Allegheny 44. Schweir's 21-yard pass to Steve Ganser on second down set up Malm's 32-yard field goal which pushed the lead to 10-0 with 3:49 left in the quarter.

Allegheny's Colin Hartford intercepted Schweir at the DePauw 34 and ran it in for the Gators' first score with 13:02 remaining in the opening half.

The Gators missed a 30-yard field goal attempt later in the half and the Tigers drove into Allegheny territory, but another Gator interception ended the Tigers' threat.

Allegheny took the second-half kickoff and marched to the DePauw 18 and Ryan Zipf nailed a 35-yard field goal to knot the score at 10-10 with 11:11 left in the third.

Midway through the third, Schweir was picked off again by Hartford, but DePauw's Ben Brandstatter notched an interception of his own on the next play.

Allegheny's longest drive of the game in terms of yardage came at the end of the third and start of the fourth quarter and was capped by Jordan Fowler's 8-yard pass to Matt Griffith. That gave the Gators a 17-10 lead with 14:13 left in the game.

DePauw drove to the Allegheny 33 on the next series before punting. The Tigers' defense stopped the Gators and Taylor Wagner's 36-yard punt return gave DePauw the ball at the Allegheny 35.

After converting a third down, DePauw eventually moved to the Gators' 14 before Pat Jameson sacked Schweir for an 11-yard loss on second down. Schweir's third down pass was incomplete and his fourth down toss to Mike Harris ended 10 yards shy of the first down marker.

The Gators took over with 6:23 left and took five minutes off the clock before punting into the end zone. Four straight incomplete passes ended the Tigers' chances as Allegheny ran out the clock.

DePauw outgained Allegheny in total yards, 244-229, but committed three turnovers to the Gators' one. The Tigers totaled just 65 yards in the second half.

Schweir completed 12-of-30 passed for 188 yards, while Jon Ellis rushed for 33 yards in 15 tries. Schoen caught four for 115 yards. Fowler completed 11 of 18 for Allegheny for 110 yards with four each going to Griffith and Eric Mastogiacomo.

Jack Quinn paced DePauw with 10 tackles, while Graham Wilkerson added nine. Patrick Keller had DePauw's lone sack.

William Delvin and Doug Williams each had eight tackles for Allegheny with Zach Minney and Jameson each recording a sack.

DePauw takes to the road for the third time in September when it travels to Memphis to face former Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference opponent, Rhodes, in a non-conference contest.
