May 21, 2011, Greencastle, Ind. — Coming off of yesterday's 2-1, 10-inning win over Messiah, DePauw returns to action in the NCAA Division III Softball Championship Finals tonight against Christopher Newport.
First pitch from the James I. Moyer Sports Complex in Salem, Va., is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
In yesterday's win, Emma Minx and Haley Buchanan hit solo homers to provide the Tigers with their two runs, while Emily Bichler tossed a six-hitter and walked just one.
The 36-10 Captains advanced in the winner's bracket with an 8-7 victory over Eastern Connecticut State. Christopher Newport trailed 7-1 in the bottom of the seventh, but scored six to force extra innings and then wrapped up the win with a run in the bottom of the eighth.
