Anderson Sweeps DePauw with a Pair of Walkoff Wins

April 7, 2011, Anderson, Ind. —  Host Anderson scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning of both games of the doubleheader with fourth-ranked DePauw and swept the Tigers by 11-10 and 10-9 scores. DePauw dropped to 16-4-1 with the losses, while the Ravens improved to 13-9.

In the opener, the Tigers took a 1-0 lead in the first as Brianne Weeks singled and Emma Minx drover her in with a triple. Cymone Allen's single in the second plated Amy Hallett and gave the Tigers a 2-0 lead.

Anderson's Megan Kruse drew a bases loaded walk in the second scoring Lys Hess, but DePauw countered in the third as Emma Minx doubled home Weeks. The Tigers extended the margin to 5-1 in the fourth after Rachel MacBeth delivered an RBI single which scored Allen who had tripled. MacBeth laster scored on Minx's single.

The Ravens trimmed DePauw's lead to 5-4 in the fourth as Kruse hit a two-run homer and Katie Lee scored on Amy Wuestefeld's single. Kruse and Allender hit back-to-back doubles in the fifth to tie the score at 5-5 before Anderson took an 8-5 lead in the sixth on Lauren Smith's three-run homer.

DePauw rallied to take a 10-8 lead in the seventh as Jen Kosinski walked and later scored on Minx's double. Haley Buchanan followed with a double which brought home Minx. Hallett and Jamie Story followed with walks before Buchanan scored on a wild pitch. MacBeth knocked in two with a double.

Anderson ended  the game in the bottom of the seventh as Hess hit a bases-loaded double which scored all three runners.

DePauw totaled 13 hits led by Minx with four and MacBeth with three. Buchanan and Allen each added a pair. Smith had three of Anderson's 14 hits while Lee, Natalie Moorhouse, Hess and Kruse each had two.

Monica Crowe improved to 6-3, while Emily Bichler dropped to 15-3.

In the nightcap, the Tigers took a 4-0 lead in the first and extended it to 6-0 in the third. The Ravens reached the board with one in the second which was quickly matched in the DePauw third on MacBeth's RBI single to make it 7-1.

Anderson took the lead with three runs each in the fourth and sixth innings, but again DePauw rallied in the seventh with a pair on Kosinski's two-run single to take a 9-7 advantage.

Stephanie Atkins and Smith led off the Anderson seventh with singles before Kruse ended the contest with a three-run homer.

DePauw totaled 17 hits led MacBeth's four and three each from Minx and Allen. Kosinski and Alison Towery each had two base hits. Wuestefeld, Moorhouse and Smith each had three of Anderson's 16 hits, while Atkins followed with two.

Smith improved to 3-2, wile Bichler slipped to 15-4.

DePauw returns to Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference action on Saturday, April 9, when it hosts Birmingham-Southern in a 1 p.m. doubleheader.
