April 30, 2011, Greencastle, Ind. — DePauw's three homers in the first game accounted for all eight runs in an 8-2 win over Washington University, but the Bears took an 8-7 win over the 18th-ranked Tigers in the nightcap.

DePauw is now 27-8-1 with split and is idle until the NCAA Division III Regional beginning May 12 or 13, while the Bears are now 29-10-1.

Washington took a -1-0 lead in the first inning of the opener as Alyssa Abramoski doubled and scored on Maggie Mullen's single. DePauw countered in the second on Amy Hallett's two-run homer.

The Tigers made it 6-1 in the third as Rachel MacBeth singled and moved to third on Brianne Weeks' single. Weeks stole second before Emma Minx walked which set up Haley Buchanan's grand slam homer. The shot was her 11th of the year and broke the DePauw single-season record. 

Buchanan wasn't done as she added a two-run blast in the fifth. The Bears added one more in the seventh when Abramoski's infield hit scored Kelsey Neal.

DePauw totaled eight hits in the win led by Buchanan and Holly Paris with two each. Buchanan drove in six, while Minx scored three. Abramoski and Mullen each had two of the Bears' seven. Emily Bichler improved to 25-7 with the win, while Claire Voris dropped to 14-4.

In the nightcap, Sondra Polonsky's solo homer in the second gave the Bears a 1-0 lead, but Paris' RBI single and Ashlee Anton's run-scoring fielder's choice in the bottom of the frame put DePauw ahead 2-1. 

Corissa Santos evened the score with a solo homer in the third before the Bears too the lead in the fifth on Mullen's two-run homer. Washington extended the lead to 6-2 in the sixth on Voris' two-run double.

DePauw matched that in the bottom of the sixth as MacBeth's two-out singled scored Paris and Jamie Story to cut the Bears' lead to 6-4. Polonsky got those runs back for the Bears with a two-run homer in the seventh.

Minx's two-run blast in the seventh closed the gap to 8-6 and Hallett scored on Story's single, but the Tigers' rally ended a run short.

Jen Kosinski, Minx, Paris and Cymone Allen each had two of DePauw's 13 hits, while Polonsky led the Bears with three of their 15. Abramoski, Voris, Alex Fjeldheim and Rebecca Salisbury each added a pair.

Olivia Cook improved to 8-5, while Bichler dropped to 25-8.
