Baker Advances to Tonight's NCAA Championship Finals; Breaks Own School Record

82003March 25, 2011, Knoxville, Tenn. — DePauw junior Catie Baker competed this morning in the 100-yard breaststroke at the NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships and qualified for tonight's Championship finals. 

Baker finished eighth in the prelims in 1:03.92 and broke her own school record by just less than one second. She entered the event with the 11th fastest time.

On Wednesday, Baker finished 23rd in the 200 individual medley in 2:07.84. She'll also compete in Saturday's 200 breast competition with the sixth-fastest time.

She picked up three all-America honors at last year's Championships.

The Championships, held at the Allan Jones Aquatic Center in Knoxville, Tenn., continue through Saturday.
