November 4, 2011, Springfield, Ohio — Third-seed DePauw finished the 2011 season at 21-12 following a 3-0 (25-19, 25-18, 25-17) loss to Hiram in the North Coast Athletic Conference semifinals at Wittenberg. The second-seeded Terriers improved to 26-7 and face Wittenberg in Saturday's title match.
In a tight opening set, the Tigers scored four straight points to take an 18-15 lead, but Hiram scored eight straight and 10 of the last 11 to win, 25-19. DePauw also held a 12-11 advantage in the second set, but the Terriers scored the next five points on their way to a 2-0 match lead. The Tigers led just twice in the final set as Hiram led by as many as nine points.
Abby Balbach led DePauw with eight kills with Brianna Holder chipping in 29 assists. Tori Bowerman paced the Tigers with 11 digs and Hannah Nelson finished with three blocks.
Shaina Bryan led Hiram with 13 kills, while Taylor Summerfield had 26 assists and Regina Zyle totaled 19 digs. Ariel Pund finished with five of the Terriers' nine service aces and Andrea Kaminsky had seven blocks.
