DePauw and Wabash Advance to Sunday's Rokicki Finals

November 26, 2011, Greencastle, Ind. — DePauw knocked down 10-of-22 three-pointers including 7-of-11 in the first half and defeated Purdue North Central by a 63-43 score in the opening game of the Mike Rokicki Community Versus Cancer Challenge.

The 3-0 Tigers will face 3-0 Wabash in Sunday's 4 p.m. title game after the Little Giants topped Elmhurst (1-3), 67-59, in the second contest. Sunday's third-place game is set for 2 p.m. between Purdue North Central (1-7) and Elmhurst.

The Tigers scored eight straight points during a three-minute stretch of the first half to expand their lead to 14 on the way to a 37-23 halftime advantage.

That margin grew to as many as 21 points at 52-31 after Barry Flynn's three-point play with 8:09 remaining. The Panthers trimmed the lead to 12 at 53-41 with a 10-1 run as Nick Neal and David Kelly each scored five during the stretch.

DePauw's Michael Wilkison hit a three and Sean Haseley knocked in a pair of free throws to push the margin back to 17 with just over two minutes left.

Tommy Weakley led DePauw with 14 points and hit four threes, while Flynn followed with 11 and Wilkison added 10. Haseley paced the Tigers with five assists and seven rebounds.

Neal led all scorers with 26, while Kyle Sanders led the Panthers with six rebounds.

The Tigers hit 45.5 percent from the floor including 57.1 percent in the first half, and held a 34-31 edge on the boards.

In the second game, Elmhurst led by as many as four in the first half before Wabash put together a 17-6 run to grab a seven-point advantage on the way to a 35-29 halftime lead.

The margin remained in single digits in the second half with the Bluejays trailing by four with just over two minutes remaining. Wabash's Derek Bailey nailed a three-pointer before Kasey Oetting hit two free throws and a layup to expand the Little Giants' lead to a game-high 11 points.

Oetting led Wabash with 17 points, while Aaron Zinnerman added 15 and Bailey 14. Nick Curosh grabbed nine rebounds with Zinnerman dishing out four assists.

Zack Boyd paced Elmhurst with 13 points followed by James Robertson and Jerome Robinson with 10 each. Nick Sanford hauled down 11 rebounds and Robertson chipped in four assists.

Wabash shot 51.1 percent to Elmhurst's 35.7 percent and the Little Giants nailed 9-of-20 shots from beyond the arc. The Bluejays outrebounded Wabash, 34-28 and grabbed 17 on the offensive glass.
