Tigers Advance to NCAC Men's Soccer Title Game after Overtime Win

103021 November 2, 2011, Greencastle, Ind.Sam Meyer's overtime goal (left) lifted host DePauw to a 2-1 North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament semifinal win over Hiram and into Saturday's championship game.

The Tigers, ranked 14th by D3soccer.com and 21st in the latest coaches' poll, will travel to Ohio Wesleyan on Saturday for a 5 p.m. contest with the Battling Bishops. The winner earns the conference's automatic qualification into the NCAA Division III Championship.

Matt Schoenfeld gave DePauw a 1-0 lead on Ryan Keefe's assist at 24:58 before Hiram knotted the score at 1-1 at 76:28 on Ryan Minick's score.

Meyer's game-winner came 3:29 into the first overtime on a double assist from Ben Hazen and Alex Johnson.

Hiram held a 17-7 edge in shots including 10-2 in shots on goal. The Terriers outshot DePauw, 16-1, in the second half as DePauw keeper Nathan Sprenkel recorded all nine of his saves in the period. DePauw totaled eight corners to Hiram's four.
