Box Score October 22, 2011, Meadville, Pa. — Sam Meyer scored a pair of goals and led DePauw to a 3-1 North Coast Athletic Conference win at Allegheny.
The Tigers, ranked 18th by d3soccer.com and 22nd in the latest coaches' poll, improved to 13-2 overall and 7-1 in the NCAC, while the Gators dropped to 11-4-1 overall and 4-2-1 in conference play. DePauw also assured itself of hosting an NCAC Semifinal contest on November 2.
After a scoreless first half, Meyer put the Tigers on the board at 56:10 on Andy Morrison's assist before Morrison made it 2-0 just 3:42 later. on Nate Snyder's assist.
Allegheny's Cameron Olson cut the margin to 2-1 at 73:41 before Meyer wrapped up the scoring with just under 10 minutes left on an assist from goalkeeper Nathan Sprenkel's drop kick.
Allegheny held an 11-8 advantage in shots and a 7-4 margin in corners. Sprenkel totaled three saves for DePauw, while John Lichina had three for the Gators.
DePauw returns to action on Tuesday, October 25, when it hosts Oakland City in a 9 p.m. contest.
