January 22, 2011, Bloomington, Ill. — The 19th-ranked DePauw men's swimming and diving team improved to 5-0 with a 180-105 victory at Illinois Wesleyan.
DePauw's 200-yard medley relay of Johnny Montgomery, Matt Kukurugya, Matt Gleason and Josh Baugh opened the meet with a win in a pool record time of 1:37.72.
Gleason (pictured) was a double winner in the 200 butterfly in 2:00.07 and the 200 breaststroke in 2:20.88. Also picking up a pair of wins was Patrick Springer on the 1-meter board with 180.70 points and in 3-meter competition with 165.05 points.
Matt Haeske picked up a first in the 200 freestyle in 1:47.44 as did Kukurugya in the 100 breast in 1:00.45. George Morrison won the 500 free in 4:58.58 and Montgomery took first in the 100 fly in 54.44 seconds.
The 200 free relay of Montgomery, Morrison, Haeske and Nathan Mullins wrapped up the meet with a win in 1:28.35.
The Tigers return to action on Saturday, January 29, when they host Chicago at 1 p.m. in the final home meet of the season.
