Box Score September 18, 2010, Danville, Ky. — Visiting DePauw put together long scoring drives to end the first half and start the second on the way to a 21-16 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference win at Centre. The Tigers improved to 2-0 with the win, while the Colonels dropped to 1-2 overall.
Centre took an early 7-0 lead as it drove 80 yards in 14 plays on its opening drive of the contest as Rob Melillo caught a 10-yard pass from Tyler Osterman.
Alex Koors caught a 4-yard pass from Michael Engle to tie the game at 7-7 with 10:04 left in the half before Jordan Gay booted a 30-yard field goal with 4:19 remaining in the half to give Centre a 10-7 advantage.
On their final drive of the first half, the Tigers started on their own 14 and covered 86 yards in 13 plays with Jon Ellis scoring on a 1-yard run to put DePauw ahead, 14-10, with 27 seconds left.
Derrick Karazsia's 3-yard run with 5:39 left in the third wrapped up an 11-play, 74-yard drive and gave DePauw a 21-10 lead. Centre closed the gap to 21-16 as Osterman scored on an 8-yard run with 3:55 remaining in the fourth.
Engle completed 29 of 36 passes for 252 yards and a touchdown with 10 passes going to Alex Koors for 85 yards and nine to Brayden Dahlstrom for 78 yards. Ellis rushed for 50 yards in 13 carries and Karazsia had 11 for 40.
Osterman completed 14 of 27 passes for 105 yards and rushed for 147 yards on 23 attempts.
Jonathan Lambert paced the DePauw defense with 11 tackles while Kyle Sherer had 10. Joshua Sturek had the Tigers' lone sack late in the game which helped seal the win. Thomas Kent and Jared Ferguson had nine tackles each for Centre.
DePauw returns home to face Sewanee on Saturday, September 25, at 1 p.m. as part of Family Weekend.
