September 1, 2010, Indianapolis, Ind. — DePauw trailed twice in its season-opening match at Marian, but rallied to take the fourth and fifth sets for a 3-2 win. Marian dropped to 0-2 with the loss.
Marian won the opening set 25-22 before the Tigers evened the match with a 25-21 victory in the second. The Knights took a 2-1 lead after a 25-9 victory in the third set before DePauw won the match with a 25-21 win in the fourth and a 15-12 victory in the fifth.
Abby Balbach paced the Tigers with 13 kills, while Katie Petrovich and Annie Collier each had 10. Ali Smith led the way with 44 assists with Kylee Lehrman posting three aces. Maggie Pajakowski led the defensive effort with 23 digs with Kristen Chynoweth totaling four blocks.
The Tigers travel to Washington University for Friday and Saturday matches where they'll face four opponents including the top-ranked hosts.
