Hallett_Amy-2010softball.jpg May 8, 2010, St. Louis, Mo. —  Amy Hallett's (left) two-run homer in the top of the seventh inning of game one lifted 13th-ranked DePauw to a 3-2 win over 18th-ranked Washington University, but the Bears took the second game by a 4-1 score for the split.

DePauw finished the regular season with a 35-6 record, while Washington wrapped up the regular campaign with a 34-9 mark.

Both teams await word of possible at-large berths into the NCAA Division III Championship. That announcement comes at Noon EDT on Monday, May 10, with the link available later here . DePauw serves as one of eight regional hosts for the Championship which opens on Thursday.

In the opening game, DePauw took a 1-0 lead in the third when Haley Buchanan led off with a double, advanced to third on Cymone Allen's sacrifice bunt and scored on Rachel MacBeth's single.

Washington took the lead in the fourth as Megan Fieser led off with a bunt single and moved to second when Ashton Hitchcock reached on a bunt single. Both runners advanced on a passed ball before Corissa Santos delivered a single which scored Fieser. An error on Santos' steal attempt allowed Hitchcock to score from third.

In the seventh, Ashlee Anton reached on an error and Hallett followed with her eighth homer of the season which extended her single-season school record.

Hallett had two of DePauw's five hits, while four different Bears collected one hit apiece. Megan Soultz improved to 24-4 with the win, while Claire Voris dropped to 18-5. Soultz retired the final 12 batters she faced.

In the nightcap, Washington took a 1-0 lead in the third on Alyssa Abramoski's solo homer. The Tigers evened the score at 1-1 in the fifth as MacBeth singled, moved to second on Brianne Week's sacrifice bunt and scored on Emma Minx's double.

The Bears added three in the bottom of the fifth as Hitchcock hammered a three-run homer scoring Abramoski and Fieser.

MacBeth and Emma Minx each had two of DePauw's six hits, while Carter Malouf led the Bears with three of their eight and Hitchock followed with two.

Olivia Cook improved to 12-4 with the complete game win, while Kristin Barrow dropped to 9-2 with the loss in relief of Soultz.

Soultz tied the NCAA Division III career record with her 140th career start and shares the mark with Muskingum's Jennifer Segner who accomplished the feat from 1997-2000. She also moved into a tie for fourth with her 108th career win and into fourth with her 109th complete game.
