DePauw Extends Softball Streak to 18 with Sweep of Anderson

April 20, 2010, Greencastle, Ind. — The 11th-ranked DePauw softball team extended its win streak to 18 after sweeping visiting Anderson by scores of 2-0 and 5-0. The Tigers improved to 30-3 with the wins, while the Ravens dropped to 14-12.

Amy Hallett's two-run homer down the left field line in the fourth inning of the opener provided the game's only runs. Jen Kosinski led off the inning with a single and moved to second on Holly Paris' sacrifice bunt. Hallett then delivered the two-out blast which washer seventh of the season and broke the school's single-season mark.

DePauw totaled five hits with five different players collecting one each. Megan Soultz improved to 20-2 with her 45th career shutout as she limited the Ravens to just a bloop single to left center by Natalie Moorhouse in the fourth. Monica Crowe dropped to 6-7 with the loss.

In the nightcap, the Tigers scored four in the bottom of the first and one in the fourth for the win. Brianne Weeks led off with an infield single and moved to second on Rachel MacBeth's sacrifice bunt. Kosinksi followed with a single before Emma Minx singled scoring Weeks.

After Paris reached on a fielder's choice, Hallett singled down the left field line plating Minx. Ashlee Anton followed with a base hit to right which scored Paris. After Buchanan reached by being hit by a pitch, Cymone Allen drove home Hallett with an infield single.

In the fourth, Minx reached on a fielder's choice and scored when Paris' drive to right  went off the right fielder's glove.

DePauw totaled nine hits with Minx, Hallett and Anton each collecting two. Amy Wuestefeld had two of Anderson's four hits.

Kristin Barrow improved to 8-1 after allowing just two hits and striking out four in five innings. Devin Moorman dropped to 7-5 with the loss.

The Tigers open Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament play on Friday at 4 p.m. CDT when they face the winner of the Southwestern-Centre game.
