Box Score 2 April 11, 2010, Greencastle, Ind. — Jen Kosinski's two-run single in the bottom of the 12th lifted 25th-ranked DePauw to an 8-7 win in the opening game of a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference doubleheader with Birmingham-Southern.
The Tigers improved to 24-3 overall and 11-1 in SCAC play, while the Panthers dropped to 21-7 overall and 12-4 in the conference.
Birmingham-Southern took a 2-0 lead in the opener with an unearned run in the third and one more in the fourth on Ashley Bice's RBI double.
DePauw knotted the score in the sixth when Ashlee Anton doubled home Amy Hallett and Haley Buchanan followed with a single that scored pinch runner Sam Szyska.
Bice hit a two-out homer in the eighth to put the Panthers ahead again, but DePauw countered in the bottom of the inning as Cymone Allen drove in pinch-runner Alison Towery with a bases loaded single.
Each team scored one in both the 10th and 11th innings before the Panthers plated two in the 12th. In the bottom half of the 12th, Brianne Weeks drove in Towery after reaching on a fielder's choice with the bases loaded. Kosinski then delivered the two-out, game winning hit.
DePauw totaled 15 hits led by Allen with four and Jamie Story with three. Amy Hallett and Buchanan each had two in the win. Bice had three of the Panthers' 11 hits, while Tori Harris and Allison Reynolds each added two.
Megan Soultz improved to 17-2 with the win, while Ronni Farris dropped to 11-4.
In the nightcap, Kristin Barrow pitched a two-hit shutout in five innings. DePauw scored three in the first, one in both the second and third and three more in the fifth.
Kosinski had three of DePauw's nine hits, while Hallett had two. Barrow improved to 5-1, while Beth Lefler dropped to 4-1.
The Tigers host Centre on April 17-18 in the final SCAC series of the season.
