Box Score 2 March 23, 2010, Clermont, Fla. — DePauw opened play at the National Training Center Tournament with a 9-0 win over Wisconsin-Stevens Point and a 7-0 victory over Hope. The Tigers improved to 11-2 on the season, while the Pointers dropped to 4-4 and Hope slipped to 2-5.
Against Wisconsin-Stevens Point, the Tigers scored three each in the first three innings. Megan Soultz improved to 9-2 after holding the Pointers hitless and striking out four over the first three innings. Kristin Barrow allowed two hits and struck out three in the final two innings.
Brianne Weeks, Rachel MacBeth, Emma Minx and Holly Paris each had two hits for the Tigers. Cymone Allen, MacBeth and Haley Buchanan each drove in a pair.
In the win over Hope, the Tigers scored two each in the first and third and three in the fourth. Soultz pitched a complete game shutout, allowed just three hits and improved to 10-2. MacBeth, Jen Kosinski and Minx each had two hits for the Tigers.
DePauw plays Eastern Connecticut and Wisconsin-Whitewater tomorrow.
