March 21, 2010, Memphis, Tenn. — DePauw improved to 9-2 overall and 3-1 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference following a doubleheader sweep at Rhodes.
After a weather delay of over 3 1/2 hours, the Tigers won the first game by a 20-0 count in five innings and took the nightcap, 4-1 in a game shortened to five innings due to darkness. Rhodes dropped to 19-7 overall and 1-3 in the SCAC.
In the opener DePauw totaled 16 hits and scored three each in the first and second innings. The Tigers then added six in the third and eight in the fourth. Cymone Allen led the hit attack with four, while Rachel MacBeth and Amy Hallett each had three hits.
Brianne Weeks annd Jen Kosinski (pictured) each added two hits with Koskinski setting a DePauw single-game record with seven RBI including a grand slam in the third.
Three different Rhodes players had one hit each. Megan Soultz, Kristin Barrow and Emily Bichler combined for the three-hit shutout with Soultz improving to 7-2. Chelsea Peters dropped to 9-4 with the loss.
In the second game, the Tigers took a 1-0 lead in the first when Weeks led off the game by reaching on an error, moving to second on a wild pitch and scoring on Kosinski's single. Keilli Zomer led off the Rhodes third with a walk and later scored on Sara Bowen's double to tie the game at 1-1.
DePauw added two in the fourth when Weeks drove in Haley Buchanan with a single and Allen plated Minx with a ground out. Ashlee Anton singled home Kosinski in the fifth with the game's final run.
Each team totaled five hits with five different Tigers totaling one each and Bowen pacing Rhodes with two. Soultz improved to 8-2 with the victory, while Bowen dropped to 8-3.
The Tigers face Wisconsin-Stevens Point and Hope on Tuesday in games played in Clermont, Fla.
