March 17, 2010, Minneapolis, Minn. — The opening day of the NCAA Division III Men's Swimming and Diving Championships was one of near misses for the seventh-ranked Tigers.

That time was just .07 seconds behind the final qualifying relay. The Tigers entered the Championships seeded 11th in the event.
John Cook finished in a tie for 16th in the 50 freestyle in 20.85 seconds, but lost the swim-off for the final qualifying spot with Luther's Taylor Nelson.
Steve Klabak placed 27th in the 50 free after finishing in 21.14 seconds.
Tomorrow, the Tigers compete in the 200 free and 400 medley relays, while Cook and Montgomery are in the 200 free.
