February 20, 2010, Louisville, Ky. — DePauw, ranked 25th in Division III totaled 865.5 points and finished second at the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Swimming and Diving Championships. Trinity won the title with 914.0 points and Centre was third with 681.Complete information is available from the official site.
Sophomore Catie Baker (pictured) was named the Swimmer of the Meet and the DePauw coaching staff, led by head coach Mary Bretscher was named the Staff of the Year.
Callie Boehme won the 1,650-yard freestyle for the third straight year when she finished in an NCAA "B" time of 17:45.14. Rachel Mercer was seventh in 18:13.89, while Lindsey Bauman finished eighth in 18:18.57 and Katie Morrison was 13th in 18:41.36.
Kendall Quisenberry placed fifth in the 200 backstroke in 2:12.21 with Carroll Bible finishing seventh in 2:13.14. Lindsay Riggs was 11th in 2:15.79 and Danielle Johnson was 15th in 2:17.60.
Katie Massey won the 100 free in an SCAC open, SCAC Championship and DePauw record time of 51.96 seconds. That mark also was an NCAA "B" time. Nicole Rossillo was fourth in 54.39 seconds while Rachel Wheaton placed eighth in 55.03 and Courtney Lehmann was 11th in 55.50.
Baker set an SCAC Open, SCAC Championship and DePauw school record in winning the 200 breaststroke in an NCAA automatic qualifying time of 2:20.66. Breanna Jennings was second in 2:27.22, while Gina Zerbini was fourth in 2:30.83 and Joan Bemendefer was 12th in 2:36.47.
Sally Tabler finished fourth in the 200 butterfly in 2:12.39 with Bauman placing eighth in 2:15.46.
The Tigers wrapped up the meet with a second-place showing in the 400 free relay as Wheaton, Rossillo, Baker and Massey finished in an NCAA "B" time of 3:32.82.
DePauw will compete next in the NCAA Division III Championships at the University of Minnesota, March 17-20.
