Box Score BOX SCORES: DePauw-Rockford | Ohio Wesleyan-Indiana East
November 27, 2010, Greencastle, Ind. — DePauw improved to 3-0 on the season and advanced to the Mike Rokicki Community Versus Cancer Challenge following a 97-79 win over visiting Rockford. The Regents dropped to 2-2 on the season.
The Tigers will face Ohio Wesleyan in Sunday's 4 p.m. title game after the Battling Bishops defeated Indiana-East by a 72-64 count. Rockford and IU-East meet in the 2 p.m. third-place game.
DePauw used a 14-4 run late in the first half to pull away from Rockford and led by 16 early in the second half, but the Regents battled back to within six on a couple of occasions. The Tigers, however, outscored Rockford 13-1 over the final 2:04 for the win.
Five Tigers scored in double figures led by career highs of 22 and 20 points from Sean Haseley and Drew Wills, respectively. Wills hit all four of his three-point attempts and Haseley knocked down 4-of-8. Tommy Weakley also notched a career-best with 16 points as did Ryan Sever with 14. Joe Bergfeld rounded out the double-digit scorers with 10.
Robert Malone led Rockford with 25 points and eight rebounds with Tory Minnifield adding 17 points.
The Tigers shot 55.9 percent for the game including 60.6 percent in the first half, while the Regents shot 44.8 percent for the game. DePauw hit 13-of-27 from three-point range and 18-of-19 at the free throw line. DePauw also held a 37-25 rebounding edge with Sever grabbing six.
In the second game, Tim Brady led Ohio Wesleyan with 28 points followed by Marshall Morris with 19 and Greg White with a double-double of 11 points and 10 rebounds. Tyler Rigby paced Indiana-East with 18 point followed by Matt Trimmell with 15 and Cody Banet with 13. Brent Burris and Rigby each hauled down seven boards.
Indiana-East led by as many as eight in the opening half before the Battling Bishops battled back for a 32-30 halftime lead. Ohio Wesleyan never trailed in the second half, but the Red Wolves were within two at 62-60 with 3:30 remaining. A 7-1 Bishops' run put the game away.
