Box Score October 1, 2010, Greencastle, Ind. — DePauw and Rhodes battled through 100 minutes of play before the visiting Lynx took a 3-2 win in a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference game decided by penalty strokes at McKeen Field.
The Tigers suffered their first Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference and are 2-1 in conference play. DePauw dropped to 8-2 overall, while the Lynx improved to 8-1 overall and 3-0 in conference play.
Margaret Ellis tallied her 13th goal of the season on an assist from Bridgette Shamleffer at 16:16 to give the Tigers a 1-0 lead. Katie Sowar added a goal at 45:15 to push the lead to 2-0.
Rhodes answered with a pair of goals in the second half, including one with less than seven minutes remaining, to tie the score at 2-2. Neither team scored before the end of regulation, or through two hard-fought overtime periods.
In the first shootout round, the Lynx's Charlie Wagner recorded a score, lifting Rhodes to the win.
DePauw outshot Rhodes, 22-10, and tallied a 12-8 advantage in corners. Goalkeeper Liz Attewell made five saves, while Sarah Dockery recorded 14 saves for the Lynx.
The Tigers host Hendrix on Sunday, October 3 at 11 a.m.
