January 23, 2010, Greencastle, Ind. — The seventh-ranked DePauw men's swimming and diving team improved to 5-1 on the season following a sweep of Illinois Wesleyan (191.5-85.5) and Franklin (236-27) at the Erdmann Natatorium.
John Cook (pictured) was a double-winner for the Tigers with wins in the 50-yard freestyle (21.57 seconds) and the 100 free (47.24).
Other DePauw swimmers taking firsts included Robby in the 1650 free (17:04.98), Alex Troxel in the 100 breaststroke (1:03.56), Brendan Flores in the 200 butterfly (2:05.07), Tom Smith in the 200 breast (2:21.21) and Johnny Montgomery in the 200 individual medley (2:03.01).
Patrick Springer won the one-meter diving with 174.55 points as did Matt Keinsley on the three-meter board with 132.75 points.
DePauw's 200 medley relay of Steve Klabak, Matt Kukurugya, Josh Baugh and Cook won in 1:37.18 as did the 200 free relay of Baugh, Flores, Klabak and Cook in 1:26.43.
The Tigers return to action next Saturday at 14th-ranked University of Chicago.
