DePauw's Men Begin NCAA Competition; Cook Advances to Evening Finals

ncaamswimmers.jpg March 18, 2009, Minneapolis, Minn. —  Junior John Cook's 50-yard freestyle swim highlighted the Tigers' preliminary competition at the 2009 NCAA Division III Men's Swimming and Diving Championships.

Cook broke his own school record in the 50 free by finishing 11th in 20.38 seconds and advanced to this evening's consolation finals. Steve Klabak finished 47th in the event in 21.23 seconds, while Josh Baugh was 36th in the 200 individual medley in 1:55.08.

The Tigers' 200 medley relay of Klabak, Baugh, John Montgomery and Cook finished 17th in 1:34.03 and missed qualifying for the evening finals by just .61 seconds.

The Championships are contested through Saturday with complete information including links to live results and video available through Macalester College's host site.
