November 13, 2009, Greencastle, Ind. — The DePauw men's swimming and diving team improved to 3-1 on the season following a 176-110 win over visiting Centre at the Erdmann Natatorium.
The Tigers took firsts in 10 of the 16 events as Robby Spichiger was a double-winner in the 1000-yard freestyle (10:29.33) and the 500 free (4:57.81). Matt Kukurugya, likewise, won two events with firsts in the 100 breaststroke (1:02.11) and the 200 breast (2:16.77).
Johnny Montgomery won the 200 free (1:45.55) and the 100 free (47.98). John Cook captured the 50 free (21.60) and Charlie Boehme won the 200 back (2:04.17).
The 200 medley relay of Steve Klabak, Kukurugya, Brogan Runion and Cook opened the meet with a win in 1:37.53, while the 200 free relay of Montgomery, Josh Baugh, Klabak and Cook) wrapped it up with a first in 1:26.72.
The Tigers return to action at the Wabash Invitational, November 20-21.
