September 19, 2008, Greencastle, Ind. - Sewanee's Layne Ezzell scored on Faith Spencer's assist just 25 seconds into the first overtime and claimed a 2-1 victory over DePauw in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference opener for both teams. DePauw dropped to 1-4-1 overall, while Sewanee improved to 3-1-1.
Evey Gannaway put Sewanee on the board at 48:53 on Lizzie Butler's assist before DePauw's Julie Drummond knotted the score at 62:20 on an assist from Bridget Coleman.
Sewanee outshot the Tigers, 11-6, and held a 5-1 edge in corners. DePauw's Brooke Shipley recorded eight saves, while Virginia Zakas totaled six for Sewanee.
The Tigers host Oglethorpe at 2 p.m. on Sunday.
