Box Score April 26, 2008, Danville, Ky. - Top-ranked DePauw moved one step closer to its first Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference championship as it defeated Millsaps by a 3-1 score in a winner's bracket contest.
DePauw improved to 35-1 with its 35th straight win, while the Majors dropped to 19-13. The two teams meet on Sunday at noon for the SCAC title after the Majors defeated Centre, 6-4. The Tigers need to win one game on Sunday for the SCAC title, while Millsaps will have to win twice.
The Tigers fell behind in the first as Tiffany Ladnier and Sam Hill reached on singles before Jennifer McKinney advanced them with a sacrifice bunt. Karoline Kremers singled home Ladnier to make it 1-0.
DePauw starter Megan Soultz, would surrender just one more base hit the rest of the way as the Tigers gained the lead in the third on Emma Minx's leadoff homer and Rachel Gill's single which scored Brianne Weeks. Minx scored in the fifth when Weeks lifted a sacrifice fly to center.
Soultz improved to 31-1 with her 31st straight win, while Kasey Thibodeaux dropped to 8-6. DePauw totaled six hits with Gill and Minx each collecting two. Four different Majors had one hit each.
