April 1, 2008, Greencastle, Ind. - Third-ranked DePauw extended its win streak to 23 following a doubleheader sweep of Illinois Wesleyan by scores of 1-0 and 4-1. The Tigers improved to 23-1, while the Titans dropped to 11-3.

DePauw pitcher Megan Soultz broke her own single-season school record when she picked up her 20th win in shutting out Illinois Wesleyan in game one.

The Tigers scored the game's lone run in the bottom of the first when Brianne Weeks singled with one out and moved to second on a wild pitch. Kaitlyn Davitt followed with a single through the left side which the Titans' left fielder couldn't handle cleanly allowing Weeks to score.

Illinois Wesleyan loaded the bases in both the third and seventh innings, but both times the Tigers came out without allowing a run.

Four different Tigers finished with one hit apiece, while Kendal McIntyre had two of the Titans' five hits. Soultz improved to 20-1 with the win after striking out eight on the way to extending her school record to 11 shutouts. Christy Engel dropped to 6-1 with the loss.

The Tigers struck in the first again in the nightcap as Davitt drew a two-out walk and scored on Rachel Gill's double to left center. They made it 3-0 in the third when Weeks reached on an infield error, stole second and scored on Davitt's single through the right side. Gill then delivered another run-scoring double to right.

In the seventh, Weeks singled, moved to second on Davitt's sacrifice bunt and scored on Gill's third double of the game, this time to right center.

The Titans' lone run came in the seventh when Allison Ward reached on an infield error, moved to third on McIntyre's single to center and scored on Natalie Chase's ground out.

DePauw totaled six hits led by Gill with three doubles and three RBI. Four different Illinois Wesleyan players finished with one hit each.

Soultz improved to 21-1 with the win, while Valerie Hackett dropped to 3-2.

DePauw hosts Franklin on Wednesday in a 4:15 p.m. doubleheader. Live stats for the games are available here.
