February 1, 2008, Georgetown, Texas - The Tigers trailed by seven points midway through the second half, but put together an 11-0 run and outscored Southwestern 33-6 over the final 12:30 on the way to a 54-34 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference victory.
DePauw improved to 15-4 overall and 7-2 in the SCAC, while the Pirates dropped to 8-10 overall and 4-5 in the conference.
The Tigers shot just 20 percent in the first half, but were still tied, 17-17, at the break. Southwestern opened the second half with a 9-2 run and took a 26-19 lead. They still held a 28-21 advantage after Zach Bergstrom hit two free throws with 12:32 left.
Ryan Werntz hit a pair of threes in the next two minutes before Tony James knocked in a pair of free throws to give DePauw a 29-28 lead. Mike Moore's three-point play capped the run and gave DePauw a 32-28 advatange with 8:42 remaining.
Ross Hayes' jumper stop the run, but the Tigers scored nine straight and extended the lead to 41-30 with just under five minutes left. Following a Pirates bucket, the Tigers scored the next 10 and put the game away.
Moore led the Tigers with 19 points, while Stephen Schott added nine points and a game-high nine rebounds. The Tigers shot 34 percent for the game after connecting on 50 percent in the second half.
Travis Barber paced Southwestern with nine points as the Pirates shot just 29.5 percent for the game and just 27.3 percent in the second half.
