August 31, 2007, Columbus, Ohio - DePauw opened the 2007 season with a pair of wins at the Capital Invitational. DePauw defeated 10th-ranked Calvin 3-1 (25-30, 30-28, 30-26, 30-21) and then topped Otterbein 3-0 (30-18, 30-14, 30-24).
In the Calvin match, Kim Hamer paced the Tigers with 14 kills and 11 blocks, while Sarah Drew led the way with 30 assists. Kate Carrico led the team with 19 digs and Dana Genet recorded four service aces.
Against Otterbein, Hamer and Adrienne Cobb each had nine kills, while Hamer and Drew each totaled three service aces. Drew paced the Tigers with 20 assists and Emily Smith led with 12 digs. Katey Larson and Hamer each had four blocks in the win.
The Tigers face Heidelberg and Capital on Saturday.
