Box Score May 19, 2007, Salem, Va. - Third-ranked Linfield pounded out 13 hits and DePauw committed three errors as the Wildcats topped the Tigers, 9-0, in an NCAA Division III Softball Championship winner's bracket game.
DePauw dropped to 37-6 with the loss and faces Plattsburgh State in an elimination game at noon on Sunday. Linfield improved to 42-6 and advances in the winner's bracket where they'll face the Wisconsin-Eau Claire vs. Washington-St. Louis winner.
The Wildcats jumped out to a 4-0 lead with one in the first, two in the third and one in the fourth. Linfield then blew the game open with a five-run sixth.
Megan Soultz dropped to 19-4, while Brittany Miller improved to 22-4 with the three-hit shutout.
Stephanie Rice paced Linfield with three hits, while Jena Loop, Amanda Attleberger and Candice Fujino each had two. Chelsy Patterson, Kaitlyn Davitt and Jessica Bowlds each had one hit for the Tigers.
