Box Score

May 18, 2007, Salem, Va. - Laura Schlensker's sacrifice fly and Chelsy Patterson's RBI single broke a 2-2 tie in the sixth and lifted the Tigers to a 4-2 win over fifth-ranked Moravian in their first game of the NCAA Division III Softball Finals.

"We're just happy to be here and get that first win under our belts." DePauw head coach Bonnie Skrenta said.

Carolyn Bartlett led off the sixth with a single and moved to second on a passed ball. Lauren Rees walked and Erin Ketchem pinch ran for her before Jessica Bowlds moved the runners up with a sacrifice bunt. Megan Soultz then retired the side in order in the seventh.

Schlensker then followed with a low liner to center that Erica Klepeisz caught allowing Bartlett to score the eventual game winner. Patterson followed with a single which scored Ketchem.

The Tigers took a 2-1 lead in the fourth after Rachel Gill led off with a single and moved to second on Kaitlyn Davitt's sacrifice bunt. Bartlett then doubled home Gill and, one out later, Bowlds doubled in Bartlett and gave DePauw a 2-1 lead.

The Greyhounds tied the game in the fifth when Kelly Santry drew a bases loaded walk. DePauw had a chance to take the lead in the bottom of the fifth with runners on first and third, but Jessica Krueger's squeeze bunt was fielded by Moravian pitcher Kristie Pellacani who threw to catcher Deanna Mangieri who tagged out Patterson at the plate.

Soultz improved to 19-3 and established the DePauw single-season win total, while Pellicani dropped to 17-4. Bartlett had three of DePauw's nine hits, while Gill added a pair. Klepeisz paced the Greyhounds with two of their seven.
