Box Score 2 April 14, 2007, Memphis, Tenn. - DePauw improved to 25-3 overall and 5-1 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference following a doubleheader sweep at Rhodes. The Lynx dropped to 19-9 overall and 4-2 in the SCAC.
The Tigers won the opener, 15-0, and took the nightcap 6-2.
Jessica Bowlds' groundout in the fourth scored Rachel Gill and gave DePauw the early lead, while Chelsy Patterson and Kristy Mahon each drove in runs in the sixth on fielder's choice grounders. In the 12-run seventh, Gill hit a three-run homer and Laura Schlensker hit her second grand slam of the season.
Megan Soultz allowed just two hits with three strikeouts and no walks in improving to 11-2. Dana Bartolomei dropped to 9-3 after allowing nine hits and 13 walks in seven innings. Gill, Carolyn Bartlett and Schlensker each had two hits for DePauw with Schlensker driving in five. Bartolomei and Rebekah Moore had singles for the Lynx.
In the nightcap, Jessica Krueger gave the Tigers a 1-0 lead in the first with a single that scored Patterson. The Lynx knotted the score in the bottom of the inning on Armanda Venezia's sacrifice fly. Patterson's RBI single in the second and Gill's three-run double made it 4-1.
Rhodes scored once in the fifth on Jennifer Whatley's run-scoring single, while the Tigers added one in the seventh on Bartlett's RBI single.
Lauren Curosh improved to 10-0 after pitching a six-hitter with three strikeouts and no walks. Rachel Austin dropped to 5-3 with the loss. Gill collected three hits, while Patterson added two in the win. Bartolomei paced the Lynx with a pair of hits.
The teams play a Noon CDT doubleheader on Sunday.
