Tigers' season ends on three-point buzzer beater

March 2, 2007, St. Louis, Mo. - Whitworth's Bryan Williams nailed a three-pointer at the first overtime buzzer and lifted the Pirates to a 62-59 NCAA first-round win over DePauw in a game played at Washington University.

The Tigers finished the season at 22-6, while Whitworth advanced to the second round and improved to 24-3.

DePauw trailed, 36-28, at halftime, but scored the first five points of the second half to close the gap to three. The Pirates pushed the lead back to seven and still held a 51-44 lead with just under two minutes left.

Matt McDonald's three-point play with 1:14 left and Brian Oilar's three with 21 seconds remaining closed the gap to one at 51-50.

Mike Moore then hits one of two free throws to knot the score at 51-51 with seven seconds left. Whitworth missed a potential game-winning three as regulation ended.

In the overtime DePauw came back from a three-point deficit to tied the game with 23 seconds left before the Pirates nailed the game-winner.

Brown paced DePauw with 15 points, while Stephen Schott grabbed a game-high 14 rebounds and DePauw held a 45-39 edge on the boards. Moore dished out a game-high five assists.

James Young led Whitworth with 18 points and 10 rebounds, while Ryan Symes added 15 and Williams 10.

DePauw shot just 31.1 percent, while the Pirates connected on 40.7 percent from the floor.
