February 9, 2007, Crawfordsville, Ind. - With one day remaining, Trinity holds the lead at the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Swimming and Diving Championships at the Crawfordsville Aquatic Center.
Trinity has totaled 638.5 points followed by DePauw with 492.5 and Centre with 403.5. Sewanee is fourth with 332 points followed by Rhodes (290.5), Southwestern (220), Colorado College (180), Austin (140) and Hendrix (131).
Lauren Walstad of Trinity completed the diving sweep by successfully defending her three-meter title with an SCAC-record 472.1 points.
DePauw's 200-yard medley relay swam an NCAA provisional time as Lindsay Riggs, Maddison Hamil, Amanda Stier and Katie Doogan won in 1:49.69.
Doogan won the 400 individual medley in an SCAC record and NCAA provisional time of 4:33.26. Trinity's Maria Lopez also finished with a provisional time of 4:38.93.
Centre's Liz Starr won the 100 butterfly for the second straight year after finishing with an SCAC record and NCAA provisional time of 57.83 seconds. DePauw's Amanda Stier finished second and also with a provisional time of 58.10.
Trinity's Leta Gatton took first in the 200 freestyle in 1:56.35, while Southwestern's Alana Bergfield swam a provisional time of 1:06.89 in the 100 breaststroke.
Riggs won the 100 backstroke in a provisional time of 59.91 before Trinity's 800 freestyle relay closed out the evening by winning in 7:59.14.
The Championships conclude on Saturday with prelims at 10 a.m. and finals at 6 p.m.
