February 9, 2007, Crawfordsville, Ind. - DePauw's men expanded their lead to 265 points with one day remaining at the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships at the Crawfordsville Aquatic Center.
The Tigers have totaled 716 points followed by Centre with 451, Trinity with 446 and Sewanee with 409. Colorado College is fifth with 399 points followed by Hendrix (207), Rhodes (190), Austin (125) and Southwestern (3).
DePauw opened the evening by winning the 200-yard medley relay as Gib Wallace, Dan DeGeus, Rob Alexander and Greg Nowak won in 1:37.20. Brock Sishc followed that with a first in the 400 individual medley in 4:10.72.
Alexander notched and NCAA provisional cut with his victory in the 100 butterfly in 50.76 seconds. Colorado College's Kurt Adkins also swam a provisional time of 51.27 seconds in placing second.
DePauw's John Cook won the 200 freestyle in an NCAA provisional time of 1:43.10 and Centre's Brad Erickson took first in the 100 breaststroke in 59.43 seconds.
Trinity's Daniel Petersen won the 100 backstroke in 52.65 seconds which was an NCAA provisional time. The evening ended with DePauw's 800 free relay of Alexander, Charlie Boehme, Nowak and Cook winning in 7:02.43.
The final day of competition begins with prelims at 10 a.m. and finals slated for 6 p.m.
